Description

Antique absinthe topette (decanter)

Also known as a decanter divider, in mouth-blown glass because the trace of the cane can still be seen under the carafe, which has been ground and polished, as well as under the stopper.

Late 19th century - Early 20th century in blown and cut glass

Each dose is represented by a line and a number engraved in the glass. This decanter contains 10 measures.

Useful for the café-keeper to know how many absinthes you had drunk, all he had to do was place the carafe on the table and he would know how many glasses you had drunk when he retrieved it.

Drinking an absinthe was quite a ceremony, you poured a dose of absinthe into the glass, then you put the sugar on the spoon above the glass and let the water run over it before tasting.
