Description
Entomological shattering at La Beauchêne
Dynastes neptunus beetle
Beautiful entomological work by La Thanatothèque
The technique consists in disassembling each part of the insect one by one, then reassembling them in an exploded view to observe each element and its relationship to the others, but also to appreciate the specimen as a whole, since the parts are placed in anatomical connection.
The Dynastes Neptunus can be recognized by its cephalic (nasal) horn, which is longer than that of other Dynastes beetles.
Each part of the insect has been disassembled and mounted on fine brass rods to be reconstituted as an exploded piece, a long and precise job.
A superb piece.

Antique bezoar - Antipoison - Antidote
Once sold by the apothecary, bezoar, also known as gallstone, was reputed to have the same anti-poison properties as the legendary unicorn's horn, hence its excessively high price, also due to its great rarity.
