Shark tooth fossil
Otodus Obliquus
Dating from the Ypresian era, 50 million years ago, still in its original gangue.
From the Khouribga phosphate mines in Morocco.
This palaeo-squale must have been common in the region at the time, given the number of fossil teeth found in Morocco, which was not the case elsewhere in the world.
Otodus Obliquus, which grew to around 6 to 9 metres in length, is almost certainly the ancestor of Megalodon.
Longest diagonal of the tooth: 7.5cm
Piece of rock: approximately 15x13cm Weight: 1.4Kg
Everything is stable, no moving parts
