Also called Paua in New Zealand by the Maoris, comes from New Zealand, an oval-shaped shell also known as "Sea Opal".
Inside, the mother-of-pearl is an iridescent blend of several colors, including green, blue, purple and sometimes pink.
Legal export as shells are over 13 cm long.
