Antique Pravaz hypodermic syringe 

End of the 19th century

Morphine addicts in the late 19th and early 20th centuries often used this type of elegant, discreet syringe in its small sheath, which could easily be slipped into a pocket.

Glass and metal syringe in it's case.

This syringe features a graduated plunger to adjust its stroke and measure the quantity of liquid injected. 

The syringe is in its small case with felt inside. The compartment for the metal wires that were to be inserted into the needle is behind the felt part of the cover.
