The vial and its lid are out of red glass blown with the mouth, it remains the trace of the pontil of the cane under the jar. 19th century.
These elongated jars with spiked lids were rarer and are hard to find today. They were often displayed in windows to show the opulence of the pharmacist's dispensary, typical of 19th century pharmacies. When the bottles were made of white glass, they were often filled with colored liquid.
